The DO's of Dog/Cat Safety
-Always ask the owner's permission before petting a dog/cat.
-Remember: not every dog that wags its tail is friendly.
-Always approach dogs/cats slowly and carefully.
-When meeting a new dog/cat, let it come to you and smell you first.
-Know where the dogs in your neighborhood live.
-Stay away from stray dogs/cats.
-If a dog/cat approaches you, remain calm. Don't scream. Stand still.
-If a dog knocks you on the ground, curl up in a ball.
-If you're attacked, cover your head and neck. Protect your face.
-When a dog/cat you don't know comes close, be very still.
-Tell all your friends what you've learned about dog/cat safety.
The DON'Ts of Dog/Cat Safety
-Don't make loud noises around dogs/cats.
-Don't bother a dog/cat when it is sleeping or eating.
-Never tease a dog or cat.
-Never reach through a fence to pet a dog/cat.
-Never put your hand between two dogs or cats.
-Never put your face close to a dog/cat.
-Never try to help a hurt dog or cat; get an adult to help.
-Never enter a yard with a dog/cat in it without permission.
-Never leave a baby alone with a dog or cat.
-Don't bother a mother dog/cat when she's caring for her puppies/kittens.
-Never pull a dog's or cat's ears or tail.
